This is a heavy cast iron stand with initials D & D on the back and side. I cannot find any info on D & D. Has anyone heard of this company and have any info to share?

This website is cool. Hope someone can help with this mystery
Cast iron stands were easy to make and companies could cast in whatever they wanted. Without the machine it's going to be difficult to say what was originally on this stand. it's a little bit different to most treadle sewing machine stands makes me wonder if it was something else.
Bernadette, thanks for the response. I'm pretty sure the stand was for a sewing machine. It has the old style foot pedal. I'm more curious about the initials D & D than what went on top of it. Any thoughts on what that could stand for? I can't find anything about it.
Other machinery was once treadle powered including saws and lathes. This stand could be from something like that. I have no idea about the D&D - it could be a retailer's name, maybe it would help to research local hardware and furniture companies?

Jmack well done! that's awesome. they are industrial machines, one is a Singer, one is a Union Special and I don't think the other one shows the name - maybe worth saving and enlarging the pics a bit. Doesn't solve the D&D mystery :( maybe someone can read the Cyrillic ?

Got word from the seller on EBay and they were selling for a friend and had no info on D & D so our search continues. thanks everyone

The antique dealer wanted $150 but we settled on $75.00. My wife and my initials are D and thats why we liked it. What kind of sewing machine goes on it and do you know what D & D stands for? Any other info you can pass on and please send a photo. My email is chiefwamego@yahoo.com thanks

Hi Darren, have you solved this mystery? My grandmother gave me her sewing machine, it is a 1924 singer, but thble is butcher block, on the same stand cast iron table with D&D in it but the cast iron motor indicates nov 1, 1927. My grandmother said that her mother worked in a factory and they gave her a machine for her home to continue working at home and earn extra. BUt as for D&D she is not sure what that means. I also know that my grandmother was raised in New York City.
