      Hi Misty,

It looks like this clock has been well covered. You'll find an eclectic collection of collectors at C.W.

So do you consider your "Mystery" solved? If so, please indicate as much on your post.

These are very valuable clocks! Olegaclockman47 picked one up for ten bucks 20 years ago because the shop didn't know how to make it work and thought it was a nice looking paperweight I suppose. See: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/18847-the-atmos-lecoultre-528-8?in=613. THAT was a good pick, and you got yours free??? WOW!

Here's a good website for more information: http://www.atmosclocks.com/index.html These folks repair ATMOS clocks, but their website includes a lot of free information regarding the history and dating these remarkable clocks.

      Best Regards,

      Bruce

That's great Misty. Now, right below your listing where it says "Unsolved Mystery", there should be a gray "Mark as Solved" button. If you click on it, it will indicate that your questions for this post have been answered. Thanks!

You're welcome Misty. I look forward to seeing more of your clock collection. Let me add, if you haven't already noticed, that Collector's Weekly also gives you a very powerful tool for keeping an eye on active eBay auctions. They also have some very knowledgeable, high-powered contributors under "Interviews and Articles" on any of the "Overview" pages.

Yes, these clocks are called Atmos clocks. They run by temperature and are very temepermental.
