I found these a number of years ago. I was metal detecting at a......well lets say a place off the roads where people might visit after dark. They have never been cleaned up because I was afraid I would damage them. Although I am thinking about putting them in white vinegar and water. No markings on them and no idea what they are made of. All the little stones are still there and I have no idea what they are either. Heck, I don't even know what design to call them. Anyone else know?

looks like it could be old sterling or pot metal to me Im thinking they are quite old. Nice find!
Thanks everyone. I thought the hooks on them were kind of odd.
Did you put them in the vinegar er& water yet? I would not submerge them in any liquid! You will destroy the foil which I'm sure are on the back of the stones. If you want to clean them I would just use a Q-tip to clean the stones, I use a soft bristle tooth brush. Your vinegar & water would be fine but I like to use a baby shampoo. Sorry I didn't post before.
I'm sorry but I meant to say I use the tooth brush for the metal mount. I use little liquid on a Q-tip for the stones & then dry them off right away.
Thanks for the reply. I haven't touched them yet because I was unsure about whether I would cause damage. I will give your method a try when I get brave.
How sad that she lost these cool earrings!
