This basket is medium sized and is about 6" tall and it looks to be old. It looks like there is a bird woven on the side of the basket. I think this basket is from west coast but I am not sure. Can you please help me with some info about this piece; age, region, purpose, value, material used, etc. Thanks a bunch. I got all these baskets from my father's estate and I looking to find out more about these baskets, which were his treasures!

Makah basket, made of Bear Grass and Cedar strips for the center bottom. Made by the Makah tribe. You can look at Len Woods Indian Territory and I would also research online for prices, they can vary by size of basket, size of weave per inch, damage, design. This and most baskets like this (including most Native American basketry done from 1890's to 1930's and on) was done for the tourist trade.
