These Camco knives were popular with boys in the 50s. When you remember TV shows like The Lone Ranger, Hopalong Cassidy and the Spaceship program starting , these fit right in. The Rocketship knives have a whistle in the top that sounds like a rocket taking off. Funny thing is these were marketed to kids and today they would be considered a serious weapon. Oh Brother! Don't get me started!
Anyway, these were from the Rail City Museum in Sandy Pond, NY. The gentleman that sold them to me, gave me a complete history of how his father (who was a doctor) used to office and live directly across from the Camillus factory. He also was the Camillus company doctor for a year in the 50s.
He always had a love for steam rails and wanted to start his own museum, on a trip through the midwest one summer, he found his first locomotive abandon on the side of the road. That started it all! He built and ran this museum for many years and passed away in the early 1990s. His son is now trying to sell some of his father's railroad items. I love the stories! The all yellow handled knife is a Colonial Lockback. also was marketed to kids.
