This is an item I found at the Flea today. After doing much research, I discovered the companies history and that they were responsible for most of the plastic whistles, horns, kazoos and recorders that were made in the last 50 or so years. All those recorders, a lot of us as kids had in school, they invented! My wife and I had poured through the flea market, not really finding anything interesting and then I stumbled on this whistle. I knew it was older because of the "Beetle" type plastic used but didn't know much more. That's when you go with your instincts! I bought it just based on a couple things. First the plastic then the fact that it's shaped like a spaceship and was marked made in USA. That was enough for me. I have seen these before but they were always cracked or missing the ball inside or both. You won't find these on ebay. They were originally made in 4 different beetle plastic varieties, later, in the 50s, they came out in solid colors like red, blue and yellow. Obviously the "beetle" plastic ones are more rare. Don't know what they're worth but don't care either. I collect for the fun of it! Oh, and it's as loud as any metal whistle made today.
