It is no secret that I like collecting "dolce et utile" (beautiful and useful) pieces. Kralik's drape pattern is quite common in several colors and shapes.

All of the pieces Ihave found so far are made of one layer of cranberry glass, blown mold, cut from the top, lightly iridized, and with applied metal tops.

My first two were inkwells (pic. 1, 2). I looked far and wide until I found a piece that did not have a plain cut-off top, and i found the 10" pitcher--beautiful and useful. And finally, when I was asked to examine some open salts appearing as "Loetz" in a definitive book on the subject, I found to my utter surprise there were a variety of them in the "drape" decor, including a red! Mine is marked AB&Co--an anchor, a lion and a C (c?).

The spoon is also hallmarked, but the mark is unintelligible.

Now, I want to add some Czech open salts to my Czech glass collection. I also love them because they hardly occupy any space!

By the way, I made a reference in a previous post as to my having already posted on these pieces. I hadn't!

Funny, I was watching a green draped salt on eBay. You were quoted (unnamed) in the description - and yet there were no bids ...

Sorry, we are not supposed to do it on CW, but if you look for ANY inkwell on E-Bay, it will give you a pretty good idea. I have it in pink opal, citron opal, red and green.
