    I have never seen a rolling pin like this. There are 16 different squares that all have different "pictures". What is it for? When were they used? Where were they used? Is it Old? I showed this to my mother and she did not know either!

      It just a patterned rolling pin used for pastries.
      Pretty common.

      My mom used hers for art and crafts with the kids.....she isnt much a baker.

      Thank you both for your feedback. I would guess that this item would be more common for some tha others, as my family has never seen or used one of these. We also never made German Springerle cookies! Very interesting and I appreciate that you took the time to answer my question. THANK YOU!!
