This is my perfect example of a Toby jug; Made by Wood and Sons, the name was used in production from 1907-1910 from what I've read on it. He is based on Toby Philpot, the original inspiration for Toby jugs. Ralph Wood was apparently the first person to start making the 'Toby' jugs in the 18th century. I've seen very similar molds in England mostly (ebay and collectors sites) going anywhere from 50$ to 100$; seems like there more collectible in North America. Although I plan on keeping mine for a long time!!

If you are interested in toby jugs I can recommend the book, Collecting British Toby Jugs, by Vic Schuler.
To me, this looks like a jug from the 1960's to 1980's.
This mould was last used to the company "Toby Wood" in the 1990's.
Well that would be mildly disappointing. It was a website that mentioned the use of the pluralized 'sons' only being used from 07-10, so I appreciate the book recommendation to clear up misguided info.
