      Hi Misty,
I haven't started collecting Gilbert clocks yet. Is there a model name/number on the case? It looks like most of the label is gone. I believe that I may have found this model at http://www.antiqueclockspriceguide.com/clockdetails.php?clockid=26654 and as you can see, they have unusual, temperature compensating pendulums. It's not unusual for a clock to have several different styles of pendulums over its production run. I can't tell for sure, but it's a very nice clock!

Hello again Misty, I've found another photo of your "Argus" and that is the original pendulum. Circa 1881. Here's another link: http://en.allexperts.com/q/Antique-Clocks-3526/2011/4/Info-regarding-Wm-L.htm
