This is a vintage lipstick holder with a pop up mirror. It was my Grandmothers. There are markings on the inside that say REG.DES.No. 934048. Then above that it says made in Stratton England. It is gold with a flower design on the top. I have only seen one of these in my time and this is it! I also have the tube of lipstick that she wore that is gold with a blue stone in the center and little diamond stones around it. The lipstick has writeing on the bottom that says New York Distributer Hazel Bishop Inc. Has anyone ever seen one of these before?? Any info would be great! Thanks.............

If you can find this at your library look up the resource book "Purse Accessories" by Roselyn Gerson. Yes Stratton is an English company - and yes American Hazel Bishop is featured too. She started out in 1942 and WA based Hecht & Co first carried her lipsticks. Slogan: "Stayons on you, not on him" - apparently 600 lipsticks sold that day! (not sure what the exact date was) My book says that she was most successful in 1953 w/ten million lipsticks sold. She also sponsored "This is Your Life" so might be some cool old TV commercials out there. I own this book but I couldn't find an exact match to your items - or dates. Believe it or not - in this gorgeous book of hundreds of photos - she doesn't date each photo! But I think your item is from the 70's.
