This one Is marked Gerber bolt action on the handle and on the blade ir says Bolt Action Exchange and under that it says Utility Blade.

When I looked at it with a magnifier this morning I figured out how to close it. The slide button is missing but a wooden pencil worked fine to slide the thing I assume is the bolt. It moved quite easily.

Overall it is in better shape than most of the other knives we found in the box. My biggest issue is knowing whether it is worth having it fixed or if it is better left as is??

I just realized that two of the knives have wooden handles and someone was really brutal with them. What a shame.

Thanks AR8 I bookmarked the link you provided on my other computer. I wanted to wait until I had pictures and did a bit of research before I email them. I guess it boils down to end value after repair cost. Initial investment isn't an issue because I didn't even know there were knives in the box when we bought the box.

I sent an email off to them with pictures to see what they say. After looking around a bit I decided it would probably be worth it to have the repair done if they still have parts.

Good knife. This style Gerber was popular in the Army during my time.

Thanks for all the loves. I wonder why anyone tossed all these knives in a box with other stuff for a yard sale item. But then, with all the foreclosures going on there are lots of things selling that people just don't have room for.

Be careful scottvez, the knife is discontinued. If they find out you are still around they might come asking why you are still around :)

Just for the record, I am by no means a knife collector. I kind of inherited this and see myself as a temporary guardian. As long as I have them I may as well learn a bit and see if I can give them some life with a cleaning etc. while they are here. Never to old to learn but at this point I don't plan starting any new collections.

I'm not that old-- I hate to see things that I used to see regularly discontinued!

Update: Gerber has my email and picture. With luck I will hear from them about the repair the first part of next week.
