This item came with my home when I bought it and I am trying to figure out what exactly it is, and if it is worth anything. It is rusty, but there are no holes in the metal, the crank moves but I cannot read what was on the large sticker that was on the front. Any help is appreciated.

This appears to be a container for bulk oil that was found in service stations. I see these in flea markets. They do have value to collectors of that kind of stuff.

it is called a lubster. mainly used to hold bulk oil then it would distribute oil into glass oil jars to put oil in car engines. held bulk oil. they are collectable for those who collecotr antique automobilia. depending on size prices vary. did you find any glass oil jars and rack to got with it? hope this helps

It is a oil hand pump, and they distribute exactly a quart of oil into the jars for cars. The term lubster got attatched to them somehow, but they where never sold as "lubsters." The smaller the pump, usually the more money your can get out of them. The large, over 30 gallon pumps are somewhat hard to get decent money out of. No dents, rust through, splitting, or missing parts also helps the sell of them. Some of the lids had thier own advertisement on them such as Shell.
