These were probably made for display in a store window. They were in a local designer home and when it sold they were priced at $300 as part of the furnishings that had to be sold. I returned on the last day of the sale and they were in the garage. I asked about them and was told, "Oh, you can have them". ...and I do! I have Hope's hand and, uh, hope to repair it someday...
