This is a 1950's era Map Measure made by Keuffel & Esser Co. This was made in Switzerland. It was used to measure maps and drawings in the drafting, engineering, and architecture fields. This is model #1745. The button at the top could be pressed down to reset all the dials back to zero.
The wheel on the bottom was run along the map lines for measuring. This model measures in inches and they made other models for fractions and centimeters.
