Brimfield
(30 items)
We just met a gentleman named Ron Shukis (seen here with Joanna and Hunter), who is a member of the ATCA (http://atcaonline.com/)and was delighted with his new purchase of a Bell System Public Telephone sign from the 1940s. This is a real porcelain flange sign, made of steel not aluminum. Ron said the normal price for these is usually around 220. This one was marked at 80 but he got it for 65. Nice Brimfield score!
Ron has been coming to Brimfield for about 12 years, all three shows. In addition to early Bell and Edison pieces, he also collects quack medicine objects from 1880-1920. In fact, he was on "Oddities" recently, showing off a nose-straightener, which was a contraption that did not do anything close to what its description claimed. He's also started collecting schalmei, which are German fanfare horns.
