My parents neighbors were having a garage sale last week so I decided to go. The elderly man who was having the sale was from Hungary. This was most likely his first wife's pendant. It definitely shabby looking! These usually have enameling, this one's is quite worn. The garnets are a deep red color. The middle one is a cabochon while the others appear flat, they are faceted around the outside perimeter. This is one of those pieces that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. My husband thinks it is ugly, I like it! It's pretty rare, I have not seen many of these in person. Size? Huge 3" square!

Hello TamaraB, The first time I saw such kind of an Austrian Hungarian brooch when I got mine. I'v placed it here under this link:
http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/26249-austro-hungarian-silver-turquoise-brooch?in=user I like yours as I like mine. This kind of jewelry is a lot of time with garnets and as you already mention also enamelled. They have often a very busy pattern but I like this as you do. A beautiful brooch!
Thanks Agram.m! You have the best jewelry!!! I am only trying to keep up with you! ;-)
Hello TamaraB,
