This is my Maternal Great Grandfather , Maternal Grandmother , my Mom and me . Also stunning wallpaper :-) a beautiful chair my Great Grandfather is sitting in also . 4 generations were not as likely to happen back then as they are today . I have at one point had 5 generations living when my grandson was born . That made the papers . It is becoming more common now. I Cherish this photo .

    want that wallpaper!
  6. Manikin Manikin, 3 years ago
I believe that wallpaper was still up when we sold farm in 1990's Hunter :-(
It makes a person wonder when you look at the changes in decor over different era's . And also makes you feel old when your the only one still alive in a photo :-(
Did you get your plaid jacket ?
  7. Hunter Hunter, 3 years ago
oh shoot! we're traveling back to CA from MA today, but I'll definitely post the jacket once I'm back and settled...

I love the entire picture. Wall paper is just one thing that brings back memories. I often wondered why anyone would put up curtains you could see through. My mother, grandmother and great grandmother all had them. There were roll down blinds behind them but I never quite got the sheer curtains as being anything but a waste of time.

This is a very nice family picture. You seldom see a family even together anymore. Those old days had their benefits. People even ate home grown, home cooked meals and they all sat down together to eat it. I may be behind the times but in this house the old school rules still apply. Pictures like this one simply reinforce my conviction to stick to my guns regarding old family values.

    Thanks for sharing it.

fhrj wow you really captured the past in your description ! Yes we all ate at a huge table in dining room . My Grandmother ususally cooked but I was in charge of plucking chicken feathers from chickens used to make some of the meals . I can not eat chicken to this day :-) Family was so close and I to wonder if we have lost that history to busy schedules and no time to be with family . I cherish all the time I had with them as a group and that could be a lot of people . Since I came from a large family and always room for one more chair :-) No more . me and my husband eat at home and no one comes . The glue that seemed to hold families together in past was the elders and we loved and respected them . That has changed :-( thank you for stopping by my post . In the case of see through curtains no one could see in but cows and chickens :-)

I remember that chair is it Eastlake ? Anyway it had red covering and it was very scratchy and slippery . You needed hefty think pants with velcro to stay on chair if your feet didn't reach ground and mine still don't lol

My pleasure, my abilities in photo restoration is limited, but I'm learning. It could do with some more restoration, but that would require the abilities of Phil.

Good job with the brightness and contrast. You can correct the white dots ( bright pixels) with windows paint. Blow it up to 800% and you can do it one pixel at a time. Playing with old photos is fun.

@fhrjr2 I use a different program, I just didn't have time to do more work on it, & yes it is fun seeing the old photo's come back to life.

Sounds like lots of work to me but so happy to have such a treasured photo brought back . Eternally grateful Walksoft and thanks for tip fhr I would never be able to do one pixel at a time as I have eye damage but it is good to know how if I have someone on this PC that could do it .

I have an old version of Microsoft Digital Image that is really good for such things. It works so well you can't get it for free anymore. I kept the install file so when I want to play with an old picture I have to install it again every time.
