These are what look like Japanese Wood block prints on Rice paper. If you look at the artist seals which are the ones contained within a border at the very bottom of the script, if it was a female that designed the image, the block will be red on a white background, if it was a male, the block would be White on Red. Then you need to check out the actual calligraphy which is read from to to bottom. There are certain female artists and indeed male that command exceptionally high prices both at auction and retail
