So after limited success on the treasure hunt lately I found my first Sascha Brastoff piece in the wild. I couldn't believe it and practically dragged a SA worker over to get it out of the case. S. Brastoff is really stylized, went through a number of phases including native American, Alaskan and the typical birds/fish/horses. He was popular in the 50s and 60s although he did work during WWII. I am a big fan of his eggs but only own one. The egg is the only piece I have ever bought on line and still feel the love for it.
Sascha Brastoff and a gift from V, what a day!

Hey Amber thanks for posting the mark. I'd not seenone before just his signature. he did some fabulous stuff!
In a fit of Sascha love I bid on a new egg this morning...no go.
V, I have a book on him too. Maybe I'll post some pics. I haven't found a piece of his in the wild so I was excited.
Scandinavia I have a package I need to get to you. Work insane so keep missing the post office!
So your new one is a 'bird of paradise'? It reminds me of the Australian Lyre bird took. Did he do a whole series on birds?
I've seen the really camp ballet dancers and harlequins which I think are really cool.
Check out this photo of him:
