This unique bench was purchased in Penn. it is a wonderful piece in its self. I treasure this find. I purchased it specifically to go in my Grandma's home place I purchased from immediate family when she passed away.
I plan to place it in her kitchen by the door, because this is the area where everyone that worked in the garden entered and placed their shoes. I currently have an old wash stand there that she used as a young girl when she would come in from working the cotton fields, but is in need of repair so I will replace it with this bench tempararily.

I only wish my Grandma was here to see this piece, she would love it.
I need help in identifying what is carved on the inside is anyone can help.
    Please reference photos.

I need help identifying the carving I found under the lip of the seat of this bench. It was purchased in Penn. and is a deacon's bench I believe. The markings looks like ia on the end or possibly nia, may be a city in state of Penn.?
