Here is another metal detecting find.
I honestly know nothing about this ring except on the inside it says “Sterling” and the initials LGB. It is a large ring and quite heavy.
Also, as you can see in the pic, in the lower right quadrant of the shield, are what appears to be the letters MO or M8, and in the upper left quadrant is something that looks like an ancient Phoenix symbol, which is very small. I had to put it under a lot of magnification even to see it.
My guess is that somebody wore this ring a long time, judging by the wear.
That is about all I can tell you.

Thank you very much musikchoo, keep at it, do your research and have fun with it. Use your local library and historical society.
Here in our little town, quite a few of the old-time residents go to the Mini-Mart and sit around. Actually, that is the only place to go in town. I ask them things like "what used to be here?", "what was over there?" They love to talk about that kind of thing, and you get all kinds of leads.
AR8Jason,
I know, but nobody ever bothered me. I stayed away from the tourist areas and historic sites. The old PT and old parade ground areas were great places to hunt.
Thank you for the kind words Hunter, bratjdd & scandinavian_pieces.
