This is the letter my first husband got when he tried to enlist in Marines . He joined Army instead . He is deceased so I am sure he doesn't care I posted this . But what do crossword puzzles have to do with being a Marine ? he was 17 at time and needed parents to sign . I have the papers they did sign but he never enlisted he went to Army instead . On My next post is a Army Base and I this is not him but he took photo of the makeshift band :-)
Oh and yes he was much older than me . I did not know him then I was in grade school I was 9 years old at the time .

Funny you would say that Walksoft because years later she did chase and hit him with a broom ! He never disrepected me again . I know he knew she would do it again LOL .
That is funny, how old where you when he came calling? My Mom was 16 when Dad came courting, he was 23.
I have this image in my head of a tough army guy being chased down the street by an angry mother. :)
I was 24 when we met he was 34 :-) My Mom was like me no man will ever mess with one of my daughters either . But they have a brother that can take care of that now . She chased him through kitchen and out the side door smacking him all the way :-) not hard but she was known to do that .She did same to my sisters husband once .And she was sweetest lady you ever want to know but my Dad never disrepected her and she was not going to let anyone do that to us .
That's an even better image I have now, how long was it before he came back & apologized? It's best to set the ground rules early in a relationship.
