These are traditional vintage Kime Kome dolls which consist of richly brocaded cloth glued to a carved wood form. The faces and hands are of 'gofun' which is made from finely powdered seashell, and the hair is human. Sizes for such dolls usually range from an inch to about 6 inches, these are 10 ½” and 6 ½” tall. Facial features, lips, eyes, eyebrows, are typically applied very lightly or not at all. The girl is holding a bell.
