Found this old stop sign off of National Trails Hwy (Old Route 66) north of Victorville CA on May 23, 2012. This sign is a little bit shot, but still a grate find to come across anything fron the 40's or 50's and from Route 66. Not sure of its age, but all heavy steel. It was laying face down under some brush with an old burned up 4x4 post bolted to the face of the sign. I believe this sign controled traffic at one time at Route 66 and Air Base Rd. Today the intersection on national trails Hwy has a stop light, and Air Base Rd has been renamed Air Expressway. I still find old bottles and other Route 66 stuff now and then. I would like to know what years this sign is from. I have not seen one just like this one before. They are alway a little different. The white border on this one is raised but not the letters.
