Red Ryder on his horse Beaver
Dial is worn and does not seem to be set correctly. I think someone put this over another dial.
The original one was a swiss made watch around 1949 I believe.
Under the 5 is N.Y.

I'm thinking you right about the movement being changed. The original did not have a second hand and the hour and minute hands are not correct either. Does the watch case have solid lugs or this one have spring pins? The original would be 1951.
Kerry,
This case has solid lugs. Made up watch I'm sure.
Dave
The original had solid lugs and the case does look correct, I'd bet someone has traded out he movement, for what reason, I'm not sure. Some people do strange things, lol. If you post a picture of the movement, we might determine if the traded up or just Frankenwatched it for a sale.
Kerry,
Movement is marked: World Wide Watch Co. Inc.
Underneath is: ZZ Swiss (reversed & upside down)
One Jewel
Unadjusted
Thanks,
Dave
Before I climb out on this limb, LOL, How long have you had this watch, I know that several (50 or so) were dumped on the market around 2006-07 as the real deal.
Dave, Just a little quirk of mine, would you edit the title for me, "Red Ryder"
Kerry,
Sorry about, Eyes are shot. Title is changed.
I have had this since the early 80's.
Dave
Not important (title), just something didn't look right and then it dawned on me. I know about "older" eyes, that and everything else on me is about wore out.
The movement is different than my "Rexall" Bugs Bunny ( these and the Bugs were made by the same mfg for Rexall Drug stores). I sent email to another Character watch collector to ask about his movement also, will get verification and let you know.
Kerry
Thanks Kerry,
Dave
Thanks packrat-place, kerry10456, BELLIN68 & AR8Jason for the appreciation.

Dave, I just found something that will interest you. If it appears like the dial is atop another, like you mentioned, that would be correct. I found in one of my reference books, that these were "thrown" together using the Bugs Bunny watch with this dial glued on top. It also said, if you look at the center of the dial, you can see the "green" of the leaves through the hole. Had that book forever and just now seen that in there.
Thats great Kerry. Looks like it might be legit. When I get back home I will check it out.
Thanks,
Dave
