I love oriental items and found these at a moving sale a few years ago. Not sure of the material, something like plastic, they don't appear to be molded but carved..... very intricate detail. Approx. 6" tall. I'd like to know the material, how they were made, origin, age. etc. if anyone can help me out. Thank you, love this site!!

Hi Stephanie, throned emperor/empress, sometimes attributed to Ming dynasty, is a popular theme for Chinese figures. Yours are made of molded resin, a common medium for the pair and likely made second half of the last century. If you will scroll back to 3 months 14 days you will find a pair by fishinnphyl with quite a bit of commentary. Farther back, 10 months 7 days, is a pair of porcelain lamps in this theme by Fuzzycow6. I have a pair with an intricate seal in the base that I think were made in Italy, a common source for molded oriental figures. Action Enterprises of Cheswick PA (now closed) imported a variety of such figures from Italy, but not this pair (that I know of) . Hope this helps a little, regards, Jim
