German Castle Cannon Clock Fortress marked with a Reg US Pat Office No. 78007, Mar. 19, 1929 Clock measures approximately 11.5" long by 8.5", made of spelter or pot metal. The clock movement is marked The New Haven Clock Co. USA. The castle is marked Germany.
The cannon on the parapet wall pivots in all directions. The castle lights up at night, there is a socket on the back of the clock that is accessed by pinching two pieces of strap metal together and removing the socket or opening the back of the clock. The socket on the clock's back door was a later addition because there is a hole in the back of the clock for an electric cord. Originally, the clock had a lamp socket on the inside when the cord got brittle or worn away it was removed, the heat shield for the original lamp is still present. The back door was used to access the bulb. The clock runs and is in great condition for its age, a little cleaning and oiling and off she ran.
Unique little oddity of a clock, which is what attracted me to it.
