This is a 1930's wood trinket box from Germany. It has an mosaic design inlay on the lid made of a material called Pietra Dura and in the center the city name of Karlsbad. There are brass strips inlaid around the corners and edges. It is missing the 4 corner brass pieces on the lid. There is also a brass lock mechanism inlaid although I dont have a key.
The inside has a tan color felt lining on the bottom. The hinges and inside lock part are made of steel. The outside bottom is missing the felt but it was originally red felt. It measures 5 1/4" L x 3 1/4" W x 2 1/4" H. This was my moms first jewelry box when she was a child.
