This is my oldest Quill Box, around 1870 to 1890. It was made in Canada and the collector I bought it from said Micmac tribe but I am not sure. This one was not made for the tourist trade but for use by the person who made it. It is very simple, but I like it like that. It is made of Birch Bark and has quills stitching up the side and also for decoration on the lid. It is about 3 1/2 inches in diameter by 2 3/4 in height. I have not seen one like this anywhere else, but the boxes made for use were either used until they broke and another one made in it's place or they are still in the family from which they were made. I am happy to have this one in my private collection.
