This item has been hanging in my Coke room for about 10 years now and I never gave it much thought until this morning, I looked at it and thought "Hmm....I wonder what that really is?"

Maybe you guys might know. It measures 26" x 8.5" and at first, I thought it might be a part of an old wooden bottle crate but it has no nail holes on the edges anywhere. So maybe it was just a wooden sign that hung over a bottle rack?

It appears to have the earlier Coca-Cola script logo, maybe from the 1920s? And the logo and lettering are "engraved" or chiseled out of the wood. Again, I'm stumped.

Nice item though...whatever it was in its earlier life. I know there's a few Hoosiers on CW. Maybe you have seen something like this before?

Maybe you have a side to a shipping crate that didn't get assembled??... Then again the 26" dimension is a bit odd, all of my 24 bottle cases and crates measure 17 1/2" long. So, now we must look at 48 bottle crates like this one http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/38878-early-1900s-coca-cola-bottle-shipping?in=user ;)

Well, what I think it might be what Tommy said. Although it may be too big even for a 24 bottle case... maybe it was part of a shipping crate for more then 24 bottles? I think I can estimate the year, though. Since the lettering and script seem like they were "chiseled" in, the lettering was probably done by a large printing press, rather then silk screening like later crates. So, that puts us about before 1920-30. But, I'm confident that logo is pre-1920, I've seen similar logos on 1890-1900 free drink coupons:

So, I'm think this is from around 1900-1910 or so.

This is a GREAT piece! Coca Cola made so many signs in so many sizes it is ver difficult to tell if this is an original, but based on your photographs, it looks like it might be original. GREAT find! Enjoy it!!
