I have a whole album, most of it empty, which contains some stamps from the U.S., China, Netherlands, Germany, Russia, and Japan. I figured I would start with the U.S. stamps and see if someone can tell me anything about these. I tried looking them up on eBay... I always think the ones I have might be valuable, but it never seems to work out that way. Maybe someone can tell me a bit about these ?

On their face, there's not much value in the ones you show ~ they are the 'common' values ~ meaning that they were used for an average next-town-over destination and thus many, many were used thusly ~ for the issues and have obvious (and serious) flaws. The blue 3 cent stamp has a straight edge, while the reddish 3 center has at least two sides (top & bottom) which cut seriously into the stamp design. They would be considered 'space fillers' on that alone and quite likely have other flaws as well. They might get a bid of a buck or so sold as a lot from a beginning collector. They are definitely very old (1850-1860 range), but old doesn't always translate into valuable. Sorry if that disappoints you.
Thanks for the information! Maybe some of the foreign ones are worth something. Either way, they are neat to look at, especially due to the historical aspect.
