This is a Phinney-Walker car clock.
It has a bake-a-lite type hour face.
It is wound by pulling the string at the bottom of the clock.
Time is set from the back.
There is a metal ring with a arm attached to mount it on a dash or maybe the frame above the window.
I had a rearview mirror with a clock built into it that also was wound by a pull string. But once again, I took it to a clock shop to be repaired (the string would not retract), and it was somehow lost the shop. it's been about 5 years since I last seen it. Shop has since been closed and the owner will not return or even answer my calls anymore. Enough of my misfortunes.

I think this is really nice! I love the face, the bakelite surround and the now faded numbers. When new it would have looked different, I suppose. But now, the plain black face looks really modern. But it must be from the thirties or is it earlier. But it has the look of a Movado or the Henning Koppel for Georg Jensen! Extraordinary! I love the winder too!
