I bought my first of these sticks at a market in Surry Hills ten or more years ago and later paid a considerable sum for the extra two. I enjoy them all each day on the Noguschi table at home in front of the TV.

I believe the cast iron candlestick (the Hobart) was designed by Robert Welch in 1962. Other designers adopted this motif of stacked discs or flanged patterns in the 1960's - 80's ( Carlton Ware and Gouda Flora). Ronald Stennett-Wilson also stacked disks in his Sheringham glass candlestick design (1967). Timo Sarpaneva designed his Festivo candlesticks for Iittala in 1966.
There is also a cake plate or stand. I still have not yet found one.
This piece was re-issued in small numbers by Robert Welch's own company (in plain iron, and in red or white enameled versions), so check for the old white round stickers or the triangular Design Centre sticker if you want an original .

It's only ten years old. Cost an arm and a leg at the time. Not an original from 1947.
Funnily enough I have a special spot for them on the table. One sits above the leg which meets the glass at a point. The other two form a line leading to ....
today it is the Kaj Franck green vase. It can be seen here too:
