I also have a Carlson painting and I was told it was my great grandparents and I am also running into this problem I have looked every where on information on this painting my painting has two ships on it. I am astounded that I actually found one. I contacted an art appraiser and he said this was a "HIGH END" painting and that I would not get any buyers in this area. I need help please the size of this painting is 371/4" x 371/4"

I WISH I could help you!! I am as stuck as you. I did learn from you that it is high end though lol. I cant even get an appraiser here to look at it without paying atleast $50!!! There is one on rubylane, a smaller version but that seller didnt know anything either but had it marked at 100. Didnt even know if it was a male or female. I have literally given up. Its wrapped safely and put away since it has frustrated me to no end!!

Well I found an on-line appraiser who you email the pictures to and he will tell you the value and even sell it if you would like. I will give you the email address as soon as he responds I cant find it again and I understand about frustration I really really doI think its odd that no one knows of him and you cant find it anywhere, that has got to mean something, right?

I have an oil painting with the same signature. It is a farm print that is mostly orange, yellow and browns. It is a large framed oil painting at 37 X 31 inches. I have had it for over 20 years and tried to research this painter over the years. Yours is the first painting I have found with the same signature. I live in the Nashville area and purchased it here during college. I would love to know the history behind the painter.

I would also love to know more about the painter but I am lost lol. I cant get anywhere online and the appraisers here wont touch anything without being paid. I know its vintage and the pieces are rare. I just wrapped mine up nicely and put it up until I can get more info. I am a single mom so I cannot afford to pay an appraiser. Good Luck!!

I have this exact same painting. I have found several artists with the name Carlson, but all have initials and are not the same Carlson, anyway, based on the signature. There are a couple for of the paintings on sale on eBay, all listed at low prices and none has info about the artist. I am in MI and the paintings for sale were in CA and one down south somewhere, so whoever this is, the paintings have floated around the country.

Anyone have an update on who it is?

Just put your pic side-by-side with my own. they are the same artist, but slightly different, and mine is signed on the left and yours is on the right. The seem to be done by the same person, though
    15. tandybear tandybear, 10 years ago
sorry, Mine is signed on the right, yours is on the left.

      Hi
I have a CARLSON sailboat painting also. It's huge. Years ago someone told me that he was a Santa Barbara artist that specialized in these huge painting of sailboats. I was told he painted mostly in the 1960's & 1970's. I don't know if the person who told me this is correct but I think he was.

I also have a CARLSON painting signed on the lower left hand corner. It's a 4' X 3' image of a old ship with several seagulls flying around the ship. Who is CARLSON? What is this Painting worth?
    21. Toomanydogs, 9 years ago
If these paintings are from the sixties and seventies then someone must know something about them! They seem to have been fairly popular.

I have a 3'3"x3'3" carlson also. It signed bottom left oranges and browns and creams. Two ships, side by side with white water in between, one large ship and one just a little smaller. Have no idea what its worth.

Keep in mind we do not offer appraisals, and as it says above 'comments must be free of solicitations to buy or sell.
Sounds as if this particular print is very popular.
