This is a small bronze New Haven Compensated statue clock.
Bottom of base to top of clock is 3-1/4 inches.
Bottom of base to top of statue (gold miner with pick) is 4 inches.
Base is 3-5/8 inches by 1-3/4 inches.
The top of the clock has the Hotel St. Francis San Francisco crest.
When I took it to the hotel with me during a stay, I was told by the hotel curator, that they have pictures of this type of clock on the guest room bed stands back in the 20's - 30's. (he asked me jokingly, if I was the thief!)

I forgot to mention, that the hotel was built in 1904 and it survived the earthquake of 1906 and they added the 3rd tower (noted on the crest on the clock) in 1908.

LOL...did you tell him that when you bought it, the clock came with a hotel robe and a full set of towels? :) Great story! So is this a New Haven Clock Company clock? What does "New Haven Compensated" mean?

I have to let one of the tech guys answer the deffinition of compensated. I do have several dollar watches that are marked compensated also.

I know what a temperature compensated pendulum is (mercury or bi-metalic). I see a few listings for New Haven Compensated Pocket Watches, but very few clocks. As a matter of fact, I found this very clock on "Web Horologists Web Ring" from 2005. Was it yours back then? :) Since this clock obviously doesn't use a pendulum I would guess that it's temperature compensation approach must be the same as it is for pocket watches....
