I bought this vase because I had owned and foolishly sold a Loetz Phan. with the same metal frame, and promptly put it away. I soon discovered the signature, but it was not until I had acquired the Glassmarken Lexicon that I found who its maker was.
And was I in for a surprise! The vase was enameled both front and backby Karl Lorenz, one of the great artists working for the Steinshonau Glass School at Kanenicky Senov. it is the only piece I have ever encountered, both by the firm and the artist. The Glassmarken has a biographical summary in German, but there is very little about Lorenz on Internet.
The vase itself is a graceful 11.5" tall. A glass blank, made by God-knows-who, exquisitely enameled with a stylized, minimalist design of trees. No pontil.
1. Picture of the vase.
2. Picture of the signature.
3. Picture of the mark on the fame. Van Heuten?
4. The vase out of its frame.
I do not plan to get rid of it anytime soon . . . .

Fabulous!!! love it
Gorgeous!
very beautiful:)
Even better is the original surfaces on the mount! First dual colored mount I've seen. Another example of the vase decor sold this year at auction as Poschinger or Heckert...will check my records.
Would you believe I never thought about it? I did not know they were that rare, because I have very few metal-mounted vases. Too expensive for my beer pockets. So, I use whatever I can, including a copper samovar stand!!
Same maker, different design:
