      Hi,
Open the back carefully and read the serial number off the movement. I can tell you when it was made etc.

      richier7,
The back of the case snaps off. You should be able to get it off by getting your fingernail in the groove.
This case is known as a Triad Case. See my post on the Gruen SemiThin.

Beautiful watch!! Here's a link to help you get it open... That's really the only way you'll be able to get more info on it: http://www.thewatchguy.com/pages/OPENCASE.html

      Richier7,
It couldn't be easier. Turn the watch over and on the back edge, usually at 1 o'clock you will a very small groove. If you don't have a case knife, a pocket knife will work fine. Use the smallest blade, place it in this groove and work the knife until the back pops open. Don't push the knife blade in, just "work it". Go for it.
      I hope this helps,
      Jim

The number you gave me was after Illinois sold to Hamilton, which would put this watch in the early 1950's. Make sure that the number is off the movement. If this is the correct number, it is a Hamilton made Illinois.
