The OPALINE range was the most popular of the series Bang designed for Kastrup. He had previously worked for Holmegaard since the late 1920s and in the 1940s he left the company to pursue a more artistic career. In the 1950s he started working for Kastrup (which in fact had already belonged to Holmegaard for several years but they wanted to relaunch it somehow separately from the Holmegaard brand).

This range was so succesful that was also created in green colour (the GRØN range: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/40729-grn-jugs-and-glasses-jacob-e-bang-k?in=user)

I had previously shared a picture of the Opaline jug and four beakers in my collection (http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/40727-opaline-jug-and-glasses-jacob-e-bang?in=user). I recently got a lidded pot and a marmalade jar, also lidded. I will try and share these as soon as possible.

By the way, one of the reassons I love so much the Opaline range is because it includes 14 different jugs and decanters. The Grøn range only has 11 jugs and decanters (and only three of them were not previously released in the Opaline range)

Most beautiful, witty, and winsome! Do the members of this 'opaline' line have the same visual properties that traditional French opaline has, or is the opaline rather more like milk glass? The bell looks similar to full-cream milk glass, but of course photos can be deceiving, and true opaline glass can be difficult to photograph. Thank you. miKKo

Thanks Mikko! Well, the cheese bell is specially thick and looks more like milk glass, but if you look at the other pieces in the series (http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/40727-opaline-jug-and-glasses-jacob-e-bang?in=user) you can appreciate the transparency in the small glass in the middle. Also in the one on the left, the one with the solid glass cone shape base. That one is specially beautiful! I know a picture against a dark background would bring out these details...

Thanks vet, jojomang, LLL and Scandi for your Loves!

Hi austrohungaro! I have one of these with the Raymor label still on the base with the maker coding for Kastrup. My bell has a less opaque look to it. The fire in the opalescence is very nice especially around the rim. They're great pieces to have! Thanks for posting yours.

Thanks for your comment variedinterest! Being this range mouthblown it's pretty normal to have different finishings. At some point I miss in this piece the transparency I have on the other Opaline items by Bang I've got.
