I have a "large" apartment in NYC, which means I I live in a large living/dining room with a sofa bed, while the bedroom became a storage place a long time ago.
Therefore, I must find a way to optimize my space. My motto: "there is always room for one more". Unfortunately, that does not apply to lamps and shades. I have only one chandelier.
But I fight glassy boredom by patiently putting together sets of 4 shades. It takes persistence, patience, and a willingness to spend countless hours searching for the missing one. It does pay off.
Pic. 1: four Kralik rough crackle shades in orange and green. Xmas.
Pic. 2-3 :Four Kralik rose bloom shades: in four different colors, pink, yellow, blue, and frosted whites. It took years to get them from the same dealer, except the latter. They are all 4.25 tall.
Pic 4. Four etched Krasno shades with a soft veil of iridescence. I use them in winter, for added light.
I just got another set of 4 at a basement bargain price. Imagine vivid deco multicolored spatter. Party time, any season!

Every people who use to collect old Glass don't have a "person-service that do the cleaning " because many time Broken somethings ... do you have one ? And i suppose you don't Have Cats around your appartment .

Paying for a cleaning lady is sooo 1% Manhattan yuppie behavior. I even do my own laundry! No one EVER is allowed to touch my glass, and it NEVER leaves my house, not even for temporary storage. I wish I could sleep with my eyes open and die looking at them. The only one I would "hire" is a dragon to be placed at the door.
I love the set in the fourth image. I have had those acid etched irridenscent shades and the finish on the rim is so lovely. I had no idea they were Kralik. Thank you for yet another fabulous lesson. I so look forward to your posts and then shades..... doesn't get any better than those for me. Thank you for sharing!
