This is a triptych for a series of shows featuring the Charlatans at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, between May and July of 1967. Rick Griffin did the first two, using photos by Herbie Greene. Robert Fried executed the last one in the manner of Griffin. Dan Hicks (he's the guy on the right in the first image) went on to found his Hot Licks band.
Romanticized portrayals of the Old West were actually quite common amid the psychedelia of the late 60s. Someone should write about that one day...
