When I first started placing items on this site, I put multiple pics up on the same page and only showed one pic of each basket. I wanted to do some over so I could add more detailed pictures of them. Hope nobody minds.
This is my favorite Washoe (or Paiute) basket in my collection. It was made around 1900 or earlier, and is about 5 1.2 inches in diameter by 3 inches high. It was made with single rod Willow, and has Redbud and Bracken Fern used for the floating designs in the basket. This basket was very well made by a master basket maker and is very tightly woven. I really wish I knew the name of the maker on this one. Hope you enjoy the pics.
