When I first started placing items on this site, I put multiple pics up on the same page and only showed one pic of each basket. I wanted to do some over so I could add more detailed pictures of them. Hope nobody minds.
This is an older Makah Basket I have. It was probably made around 1890-1900 based on the bottom weave of the basket. The later ones have the white Cattail leaves or Sea grass woven around and then the split Cedar strips that crisscross in the middle of the bottom. This basket has the Cedar strips in the middle, but also Cedar that is woven so the whole bottom is Cedar. The colors are great still but there is some damage. The Cedar that should be around the rim is gone. But I still love this little basket. It is about 3 inches in diameter and about 2 and a half inches high. Enjoy the pics.
