I found this simple crude tool (?) in a box of miscellaneous "junk" in Florida. I thought it might have been used in fishing, hunting, kiting, or farming or some kind of weapon? Dunno. It does NOT feel like wood. It feels like earthenware or perhaps some kind of heavy bone. There appears to be several notches on it like the owner was keeping a count. Dimensions: 9-inch x 1-inch x 0.5-in Any guesses?

It looks like it could be an old homemade shuttle. You use them for repairing fishing nets. Some are used to wrap the netting (line) around to hold it as it is being used and others have a hole similar to a needle that you use to actually feed the line through over and under etc. as you make the repair.
This may be something else but looks like an old shuttle.
Thanks for the feedback. The item might be an old shuttle or needle but it does not have any holes to thread a line. It is completely solid. Good suggestion.
