It doesn't look like an error to me. It looks like a damaged coin.
Agree with stefdesign, doesnt look like a misstrike, looks like someone put it on a train track or in a vise. The press mark is too straight to be a mint error.
I would call it a human error as opposed to a mint error. still worth five cents though.
