Anouther one bites the dust! The Southwest Porcelain Co. of Sand Springs closed its doors some time back. The S P S (Southwest Porcelain Steel) is what you see on some of the signs that they have produced over the years. I was lucky enough to know the general manager, who was in charge of auctioning of the equipment a few years ago. He took me through the plant & when we got to the Shipping/ inventory building i was nosing around when i stumbled upon a couple of wood framed,cardboard containers.I asked him what was in them ,he shrugged & said "open them & see" Long story short, thats how i ended up with my Chevrolet Genuine Parts & Gibble Gas porcelain signs.Anyway, the sign at the front gate is all that still remains of this iconic company. THAT is what i thought mustangtony, i dont know who the property belongs to now. I should have got it during the de-construction period, i did know some of those people.
