I found this old reel at an estate sale. I have others that are similar, but this is is by far the heaviest and most unique. It is filled with breaded copper or brass line and is made from aluminum. The reel was made in Detroit, and Has the words "Balanced" Trolling Reel 12139 Woodbine Detroit 23 Mich. I am trying to find more info on the reel. The address is still occupied , but I don't think by the manufacturer of the reel. I will be checking out the old fisherman in the area to see if I can find out more info.

I love it as a design object - wonderful!
I look thru hundreds of vintage reels a week and there are many mfgs. but I have yet to see one even close to yours. Looking over your reel I believe it was originally paired with a very unique rod, judging by that clamping screw. Good luck and great reel.
