This!!! arrived this morning and I am thrilled to bits and sooooo!!!!!! in love! I don't think I have I bought anything quite as exquisite as this bowl.
Cranberry glass with a turned yellow (possibly uranium) and white thread going though it, (how do they do that!!) and is quite heavy for it's size weighing just over... 1lb. 7 ounces or just over half a kilo.
Foot in mouth when buying it on-line but with a little help from a friend I went for it! I was so thrilled when it arrived that just had! to post straight away, the newspaper is still strewn all over the floor
I have now idea who it was made by although I think it may have a little age. Any help would be grateful appreciated!
Many thanks for looking.

My best guess on this would be english. it has that northwood look. I'd be thinking Stevens and Williams.

Well, I must tell you what you have. This is a base to a fairy lamp, c.1890. The The design was registered by Samuel Clarke (UK). The threaded pattern was officially called "Twisted" Verre Moiré by Clarke. However, most people refer to the pattern as "Twisted Nailsea". Your find is very rare due to the color combination. That said, the matching shade will be very difficult to find. But, if you do, you will certainly have a treasure. Congratulayions on such a great find!! Jim. http://www.fairylampclub.com
Thank you mikielikesigns2! for your love....:-)
Thank you IMASapp so much!.... I think I was very lucky to find this! so I don't think I have a hope of finding the rest of it especial after what you have said.
When I saw it I thought it was a bowl it has such a small are in the centre to fit a dome and I think if I had known that half of it was missing I wouldn't have bid on it, that's how much I know!....:-/
I just loved the colours and with the twist at the end of each short thread, it almost seems to move as you look at. I did feel it was quite old and with all that I plucked up the courage and bid on it.... thank you once again and for your link, there is some amazing looking lamps on it, love them all....:-)
Many thanks ks85......:-)
Will never stop looking now scandinavian_pieces you never just! know, thank you for your lovely comment....:-)
Naturally, I advised my Fairy Lamp Club members of your find. To my surprise, one of my members sent me a photo of their matching shade. If you believe there is a possibility that these two pieces can get together, drop me a note at fairylampclub@msn.com and I will bring the two of you together. Jim
