Dianne Heatherington was a rock and roll legend in Canada. She also had parts in various movies including Cocktail, Liberace, etc.
--Those who saw her perform never forgot her, when she sang she could make the hair on your neck stand up and was a larger than life performer. I became her friend shortly after she started singing in Toronto, went to visit her when she was in New York, and sold her some of my furniture when I left Toronto. I must have taken over a thousand photos of her, and did a number of her publicity stills.
--Dianne sadly passed away in 1996 and the world lost an incredibly talented person. There will never be another like her.

That first picture captures the power, she must have been belting it out! You are lucky to have known her.
Yes, she was one of the most incredible people I have ever met on this planet, so nice, such a strong personality and yet make one feel they were the only other person around her.
Thanks eye4, there is a site on the web here is a link which shows some of my other photos of her. In one of the photos you can see my art deco lamps where Dianne sits on a window sill !!~

Thanks for posting the link, I had fun going through it last night, most I didn't know. I like the pictures of Dianne, to bad there wasn't some audio of her.
I listened to a lot of B. T. O., & The Guess Who.
Thanks David, Dianne was a good friend of Burton Cummings and I knew and photographed him also. He was a real practical joker, Dianne opened for him at some of his shows, he loved her as a close friend also.
Burton wrote/co wrote so many memorable songs, some of my favourites, American woman, These Eyes, Laughing, No Time, No Sugar Tonight, & last but not least, Runnin' Back to Saskatoon.
You seem to have lead an interesting life my friend!
I don't know, I just had a knack of being able to talk to anyone, no matter what, and although some of my friends had gained some fame, I just talked to them as if they were normal people. These eyes were my favourite, and I remember the pool hall in my town had the music so loud, when I first heard it, I loved it !~Phil.
They probably appreciated that quality in you.
These are great pics. Actually better than great. I'm really drawn into the energy of this pics. (Sorry, Phil) Never heard of Dianne Heatherington. Had to see if I could listen to her music on youtube and to my surprise I found a Helter Skelter song she did. Siouxsie and the Banshees also covered the same song. What a cool mash-up song that would be and if it was somehow possible, throw Nina Hagen in the mix too since they are all from the same punk era. Thanks for posting these pics. I'm sure your friend, Diane is smiling at you from the heavens above. Pictures can say more than a 1000 words.. Good times and it's obvious you captured the moment.
Thanks Leah,
Glad you like the photos. The person who posted the pics got them from a website unbeknownst to me. The first photo in particular was taken when she was singing Helter Skelter. When she sang the song and recorded it however she could barely sing at all. Luckily she had surgery shortly after and the nodules on her throat had been removed and she sang magnificently on her cross Canada tour I followed for some towns shortly after. Her voice never sounded better so when I hear the song on youtube I am so disappointed. Seems every day I think of her and wish her husband would have put some of the things she recorded in that studio she bought, but says the material is not good anymore. What bull.
Anyway love your comment,

Thank you, Slave-to-glass, for at least taking some time to view some of her work, there was much better stuff made but lost for now. I appreciate your comment. Phil.
You're welcome :) I'm guessing the youtube song her brother posted with the pictures is also sung by her? And its wonderful that you have the opportunity to share on here and introduce us to someone we may never have come across otherwise. I love all your photography and you really did capture her essence :)
I posted the 4th photo the other day on Aminus3 and I got a Spotight Award on aminus3 for it today. Really happy.
