I am literally losing brain cells over this picture and the other one in my profile. The picture in this one with the printed paper is what I am so confused. The paper pic is the one I am finding all over the web so I would guess my actual picture is fake. However, VanCleve used to be a art dealership I believe in NY that showcased for artists back in the day. Does anyone know?????

Your painting is a copy of the Rubens by Van Cleve. I'm not sure what your confusion is about? Many students and teachers copy the Masters' artwork as part of the learning process.
I wouldn't call it a 'fake', I'd call it a copy or study. He did it the proper way... credited the original artist, and signed his own name. A fake would have copied the original artists' signature. I don't know anything about Van Cleve.
Well, that is why I was confused. The actual artist is Peter Paul Rubens. I did some research on Vancleve and it was an art studio. There is a card on the back and it says Van Cleve Original Paintings 333 E. 89th #4F ny ny 10028. Beng that it says the van cleve original paintings that is what was throwing me off. So if I am understanding correctly, someone named Van Cleve was an artist had a shop in NY and he made a copy of the original painting? Sorry, if I am being slow here. TY AGAIN!!!!
That sounds about right! It's always fun and challenging trying to figure out why people did the things they did!
Right lol. SO I guess I will just donate yet another item to a thrift store lol. SO much for being smart on good deals. TY again
Art is one area where it seems everyone is sure they have a long lost masterpiece, LOL! My philosophy is, if you love it hang on to it, whether it's worth a fortune or not. If not, pass it along to someone who will.
very true so does that mean pass it on to you?? lol
Good thought, but being an artist myself, my house is already full! LOL. I'm sure it will find a good home!
